We lost our 28 year old son, Brian, on November 1, 2007. His death came as the result of a construction accident where he was not provided with the appropriate safety equipment. It is still hard to accept because it could have been prevented. We try not to dwell on that as anger can eat you up very quickly. Our goal is to address safety issues and make changes. We've learned that patience is more than a virtue in that area. Only time will tell if we achieve any success.
Brian was a good, kind hearted soul. I think his main goal in life was to help the underdogs of this world, be they human or animal. He loved nature and took his camera with him everywhere. His photos have become such a blessing to us. It is so calming to look at his photos and see the world though his eyes. He spent a lot of time hiking our area, going cross country/off trail to get the "good shots". We are so thankful that he labeled everything so that we know where they were taken. And he loved his animals. His adopted BLM wild mustang is living with us now. "Jesse" (named after the outlaw because of his rebel nature) is special to us and reminds us daily of Brian's ever patient love for this horse. Adopted as a 10 year old stallion, Brian earned his trust and made him a gentle soul to be around.
We miss Brian every day. I hold on to the memory of the sound of his voice, to the memory of the walks we took together looking for wild flowers in the pasture. I even hold on to the memory of the disagreements we had. They all were Brian. We still love him so!
